Find out if your Google Ads are generating real profits

Search, Shopping or PMAX: the profitability logic is the same. Enter your real margin and get the true ROI, ROAS and CPA of your campaigns.

Attribution note for Google Ads

Last-click attribution over-attributes to Google conversions that were actually assisted by other channels. Data-driven attribution reduces this but does not eliminate it. Always compare Ads data with your store's real orders before scaling decisions.

ROI in Google Ads: the search intent advantage

Unlike Meta or TikTok, on Google the user is already actively searching for what you sell. This translates into higher conversion rates and shorter attribution cycles. But it also means higher CPCs in competitive niches, which can compress ROI if you don't control your maximum CPA.

The most common mistake in Google Ads is optimising solely for a Target ROAS without accounting for the real product margin. A 4x Target ROAS with a 20% margin is still a net loss.

ROI by Google campaign type

Shopping / PMAX

Highest purchase intent. Best ROI for products with established demand and quality images.

Search

Very effective for transactional keywords ("buy X"). High CPC in competitive niches.

Display / YouTube

Lower direct ROI. Useful for awareness and retargeting, not direct conversion.

Common mistakes when calculating Google Ads ROI

  • Using last-click attribution without accounting for Google also claiming assisted conversions.
  • Including brand campaigns (searches for your brand name) in the acquisition ROI calculation.
  • Not separating Shopping ROI from Search ROI — they have very different dynamics.
  • Setting Target ROAS without enough conversions (minimum 30–50/month) for the algorithm to optimise properly.
